The beginning

Let me introduce myself. My name is Ewa. I've had a few pets in my life, but two are the closest to my heart. Nero and Luna - where the name of my blog comes from. Nero was a mix of a wolfhound, a Labrador and a golden retriever and was saved from being put down when he was only 3 months old. A naughty cutie. He was always looking for something, he was very strong and wanted to dominate. That's why we named him Nero. His name "Nero" is primarily a male name of Latin origin that means Powerful, Strong. Nero was the name of the 1st Century Roman emperor. He was our dog when Arnold and Ela were still in elementary school, through high school, and until our granddaughter - Amelka - was born. He was very protective of her. On walks, he wouldn't leave her stroller. At home, he slept by her crib. But unfortunately, time inexorably flies. Nero lived with us for only 11 years, until lymph node cancer took him away in 2016, and although some time has passed, I still miss him very much. After less than 4 years, my son Arnold, came to the conclusion that my depression and stress were very high. At that time, I just sat at home, knitting or crocheting while watching TV. I didn't want to go for walks, meet people, talk. Nothing was going well for me. In 2019, my husband Artur and I went to the Dominican Republic. Heaven on Earth. However, before we went there, my son started telling me that I was sitting at home too long and that I should at least go for walks, but I didn't feel like it. I felt so good. From Monday to Friday, physically and mentally exhausting work. On my feet all day, I would never want to go anywhere. Arnold, knowing that I had always dreamed of having a Husky, started approaching me, asking me about this breed of dog. Color, gender, long or short hair. I could feel that these were not random questions. However, Arnold claimed that he simply wanted to have a topic to talk about. He wanted to know why Huskies and no other animals. I once watched the movie "Sled Dogs." I fell in love with this movie. Demon - the main leader of the Husky, was the best sled dog. Everyone wanted him. He was very smart but also sneaky and mischievous :) And those eyes.................... Azure-blue. Beautiful. No dog breed has eyes like that. Then the questions about names started. Loving Demon, I chose this name for a boy and Luna for a girl. Arnold sent me two photos. One of a brown and white husky, the other of a black and white husky. Of course, my husky had to look like Demon in the movie. After returning from the Dominican Republic, Arnold picked us up from the airport. In the front seat was curled up in a ball, scared 6-week-old Luna. I fell in love with her immediately. Now Luna is 5 years old. She is the most wonderful cutie on Earth. She is gentle, although, if necessary, she will show her teeth. She comes when she feels something is wrong. Living in Seattle she had the whole garden at her disposal and a meadow by the local Clark Lake Park. I love watching her run, jump like a fox, she was so free then. After moving to Arizona in October 2024 I can only take her for walks or to the dog park. However, there is no grass there. The gravelly rocky surface is not good for my Princess's paws. The paths in my apartment complex remain, where there is at least some greenery. Luneczka (nickname) has met other dogs in the neighborhood. They are so nice. They play and fool around together. The only thing they lack is a grassy dog park. Something will have to be done. I have to find a place where she can run on grass again. We'll live, we'll see.

Winter 2022 Arthur, Luna and I went to Ruby Beach on the Pacific Ocean. It was cold and rocky. However, the stones there are flat and polished by the water, so you can stack them on top of each other. As usual on the Pacific, the landscapes and sunsets are very picturesque, and the air is crisp and fresh. Luna had fun chasing the Seagulls.
